We are doing a series called Where Are They Now?

We have been blessed at AWM to have wonderful women join us for a season, writing for our website and speaking at our conferences. One of these beautiful women is Terri Sharp, We met Terri at one of our conferences in the Dallas area. She later joined our writing team, sharing her unique story of loss and healing.
Terri was widowed in April of 2012 and joined the AWM team several years later. Her story includes the tragic death of her husband through suicide. You can read her articles here.
What are some things God taught you during the early days of widowhood?
He is truly faithful to go before me even before I know I have a need. And even though I had times I felt like I couldn’t go on, He was always with me.
How has God called you to serve now, in your current season of life? And how has your widow journey prepared you for your new assignment?
I have been asked to start a ministry to widows in our church and community. I am able to relate to the younger and older widows and to those who have just lost a spouse, as well as those who have been years into the journey.
What would you tell yourself about God, if you could go back to the early days of widowhood?
I think I would say, “You really cannot fathom the depth of relationship you will have with God as He carries you through this journey”.
What are some blessings you have received along your widow journey? Has God helped you pass these along to others?
It is a blessing to fully rely on God rather than myself. It is a blessing to be forced to allow others to serve me when I was used to being the one to serve; and now it is a blessing to be able to serve once again. And yes, God has allowed me to pass what I have learned on through my writing and through ministry.
Were there any specific ways God used the AWM team or readers in your healing process?
Absolutely! The daily writings from A Widow’s Might on Facebook were what connected me to this wonderful community of women helping each other. Attending the widow’s conference in 2014 and 2015 were pivotal in my healing and in giving me a place to serve.
God has blessed me with love once again through a wonderful man who has been my husband since September of 2015. God also has blended our two families into one in a powerful way, and we now have four grandchildren and one on the way. We are forever thankful for His kindness to us!
