It’s not just about our pain, it’s about God’s character being revealed in the midst of our pain.
It’s not just about comforting others, it’s about sharing our eternal hope that transcends our daily struggles.
It’s not just about moving forward, it’s about allowing God to be glorified in our lives today and always.
Our stories are a way to share with others what we have learned about who God is. It is not for our glory, it is for God’s glory. We share because we love God and we love others.
Here is what you need to understand about our ministry as a Guest Writer:
In our darkest hour we cry out, and we wait for God to answer.
Time and time again, we receive comments from readers about how God answers their prayers through AWM devotionals. Sometimes, they are at rock bottom and are not sure if they can make it another step. Other times, they think they are moving forward and on track - until they are reminded of God’s truth.
Inspiration can come in many forms but nothing compares to the inspiration of hearing stories of God’s faithfulness just when we need it most! How do we do come up with the right words to write? It all starts with prayer and quieting our minds. God has to be the one leading the conversation and guiding us on what to write.
It is staggering to think about what a difference we can make in the lives of these widows. We know first hand that when your entire world has been turned upside down, you need others to speak truth into your life. Romans 12:2 instructs us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. At AWM our devotionals are focused on instructing widows on how to apply God’s truth to their life now and as they move forward. It will not only change their lives but also the lives of their families, friends and church bodies.
Sometimes we are a hot mess. There is no hiding it! And in those moments, the last thing we want is someone to preach to us about how we should be doing better. Especially if they have never walked this journey!
At AWM we utilize a team of widows who can minister to widows who:
We are unique in the fact that we get it, we have walked through very similar circumstances, and we can relate to what our readers are thinking and feeling. We have different stories to tell, different passions and gifting, but we are all united in wanting to build up the body of Christ with the purpose of sharing our hope with others!
Our words are intended to comfort and encourage. But we do more than just provide a written devotional, we open the door to a relationship because we care. In addition to prayerfully creating our devotionals we also commit to monitoring our website and facebook page during our shift to ensure we are available to minister as women respond to our devotional. We know that many widows have no other widows to talk to. We make it a priority to respond to comments from 7:00am - 10:00pm each day of our shift. Our responses include praying for the individuals, affirming them, and guiding them according to God’s truth. On rare occasions we have had to direct women who were suicidal to the appropriate resources. We take our commitment to building relationships with these women very seriously. As a guest writer we ask you to also commit to responding to comments the day your devotional is published. As your teammates, we will walk alongside of you, every step of the way.
