“The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness;
He will quiet you by His love;
He will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)
Our mighty God will save.
Do you feel like you are always in need of ‘saving’? I am so thankful my eternal salvation is secure, but I feel like God is continually having to pull me out of trouble.
In the forty-four years we were married, I called out to Steve many times for help. For years, I heard him say over and over, “Watch out for snakes. You better be watching our for snakes, Kathy. Don’t wear those shoes, there are snakes out there.” Sadly, there are still snakes.
Letting my dogs out recently, Zeeva ran straight to the SNAKE making his way across the backyard. Screaming at the top of my lungs, I threw a patio chair at HER to get her away from the snake. Dragging her inside, I got Steve’s gun and went back out. It was so dark, I couldn’t see a thing, so I went back in for a flashlight. Now, my question became, “How do you shoot and use a flashlight at the same time?” Back in I went for the fancy headlight the guys use to hunt, but as I ran out putting it on, I realized their heads must be way larger than mine because it fell down and covered my eyes. Now, I am sure, off in the distance, I heard a copperhead just chillin’ and laughing at the human.
Funny….not funny.
He will quiet you by His love.
And there is our God.
God KNOWS there will be days
we need to be saved and quieted by His love!
That night, it took a while for my heart to be ‘quieted’. A ‘snake’ was the culprit of my troubled soul this time, but how many times, in the last five years, has God reached out, pulled me close and calmed me? He has never failed me.
I am so thankful the Lord does not send me away, alone and without His power, until I can pull myself together.
As Zephaniah has stated, “The Lord your God is in your midst.” He will never leave us alone relying on our own strength.
The Lord your God is in your midst.
What a wonderful, powerful Word from God!
As widows, we deal with the emotional aspects of grief, missing our husbands so much, but there are still things that must be done, or dealt with, that were before ‘shared by two’.
When my heart cries out in the darkness for the one I have loved since I was a young girl, and I desperately need to talk with someone who loves me like he did…there is God.
He will rejoice over you with gladness
and exult over you with loud singing.
No matter how many times God must rescue us, or quiet our troubled hearts, He rejoices over us with gladness. God exults over us with loud singing.
Can you see the Lord cheering us onward! For every effort made, imagine the joy on His face as we trust Him and move forward. He knows the journey is hard.
Oh sweet sisters of mine, let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and remember…
“Those who look to Him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.”
Psalm 34:5 (ESV)
Dear Heavenly Father, cause us to remember Your great faithfulness and love for us. As we wait for Your return, may we always remember You are always in our midst, and You rejoice over us with gladness. Amen
