Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
John 15:13-16 ESV
Every widow knows holidays and anniversaries are hard! There is always an empty seat at the table where our loved one once sat. Memories can flood our brains and tears can appear in an instant. It is difficult, sometimes almost impossible, to remember there is more going on than just our loss. But Easter is different. Easter is a time we can celebrate with more joy than ever before.
Once you have experienced death, up close and personal, you begin to get a glimpse of the true magnitude of God’s love. God has shown us His abundant love by allowing His Son to die for our sins. He provided a way, at great cost (something we understand better now) so we could spend all of eternity with Him. He is our greatest gift!
Easter is not just about remembering how He provided a way; it is a time to remember why He provided a way. It’s about His Great Love for us, which is far greater than anything we could imagine.
Praying this Easter your heart will be filled with the knowledge that God loves you and true to His word – there is no greater love!
