Oh, how I miss those sweet words my husband so frequently greeted me with. They confirmed I was “his person,” the one he truly loved and cherished. With just two words, I could be transported from my ordinary day-to-day life to feeling special.

Today, I hope to do the same for you. – Hello, gorgeous!

Yes, I am talking to you. You are loved and cherished! Our Almighty God, the Alpha and Omega, created you in His image. He didn’t make a mistake when He made you. And He hasn’t forgotten about you now.

Take a moment and meditate on what we know to be true from His Word:

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Psalm 139: 13 – 14 (NIV)

And this truth:

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)

He loves you so much He sent His son to die for you!

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (NIV)

And His love will never disappoint us!

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Romans 5:5 (NLT)

Years ago I heard a sermon message that said we should preach the gospel to ourselves every day. Now that the house is devoid of the beautiful greetings like “Hello, gorgeous” and all the other sweet affirmations my husband used to shower me with, I realize preaching the gospel to myself every day is critical to my well-being and my mental focus. Toby-my yellow lab – gives me plenty of snuggles but he’s not so good with the words I desperately need to hear.

Meditating on how God sees us and His love for us brings us into full community with Him. We can bask in His presence. The distractions of this world will get put into their proper perspective as we focus on our sovereign God. Fear, worry, and wondering what our purpose is, will be laid to rest as we grow in our ability to trust our God who loves us so much. And as we rest, that state of peace that surpasses all understanding will become a beacon of light for the world.

What greater purpose could we have than helping others see God – alive and active in this world?

Recently I have had the privilege of praying for someone who is going through a very difficult situation. She is a friend of a friend. I have never met her. She is not a widow. I have not walked the journey that she is walking right now. But God has called me to pray for this woman, time and time again. And He has put His love for her in my heart. It makes no sense that I could love her, I’ve never met her. How amazing is it that the God of all creation can put love in our hearts for someone we have never even met? And what’s also amazing is she knows it’s happening because of God’s love for her. She is being surrounded by His love during one of the toughest times of her life.

I know what that feels like. God did the same for me. And He is doing the same for you. Even if you are don’t see it at this moment. He is with you. Always.

So tomorrow when you wake up, I hope you hear the words “Hello, Gorgeous”.

And I hope those words remind you that God loves you more than you can possibly comprehend. While you were sleeping He was with you. As you move about your day, He is with you. When you think about what you have to do today, remember He will work all things together for good. He is the same God who knit you together in your mother’s womb and created you in His image. And when He gave you your first breath, He already knew you were His child. And it gave Him great pleasure. He sent His precious and Holy Son to die for your sins so that you could be with Him. Because you are also precious.

Today your heart will be filled with love because God is love. And His love changes the world!
